Dear Fellow Valuator:
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the website of the International Association of Consultants, Valuators and Analysts (IACVA). Our purpose is to transfer knowledge of business valuation and fraud deterrence throughout the world. This is based on best practices selected from many countries, as such activities are founded everywhere.
Since I started my valuation career – a summer job at a London stock broker in the 1950s, the world, particularly financial activities, has changed immensely, in some ways, for the better. At that time valuation was an arcane art, aided by slide rules and, hand-written spreadsheets. Since then, it has become a worldwide profession closely connected to, but different from, that of the accountant. Fortunately, they are large users of our services for both financial reporting and tax purposes. Many of us are qualified as both but the future of our field is to be separate, focussing on the overall situation of the entity being valued. |
IACVA has a number of growing Charters and Chapters in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States that train and accredit individuals in valuation (Certified Valuation Analyst) and fraud deterrence (Certified in Fraud Deterrence). We are growing, as many local and regional associations realize the benefit of global collaboration; singing the same songs in a multitude of languages.
